Belarus and Vietnam always support each other’s initiatives at international forums, said Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich during his official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung.

Excerpts from a VOV reporter’s interview with him:

VOV: What do you think of Vietnam-Belarus cooperation in the international arena?

PM Myasnikovich: Belarus and Vietnam share common views on the development of events in the world. In the present stage their relationship is based on high-ranking political dialogue and commitments to support each other at international forums.

For the benefit of dynamic growth in each country, both sides are unanimous on key issues related to international political cooperation, their mutual support for each other’s initiatives and decisions at international organizations.

Like Vietnam and other partners in the Non-Aligned Movement, Belarus opposes the use of “double standards” in international politics and backs the establishment of a fair international political and economic order.

The positive relationship between the two countries at all levels, no doubt, contributes to reaching uniformed views.

Belarus and Vietnam are set to promote the exchange of visits to sign cooperation agreements, through which both sides will learn about each other’s views on world politics and each other own interest.

VOV: Belarus is paying special attention to the field of physical culture and sports. What about prospects for bilateral cooperation in the future?

PM Myasnikovich: Both countries are keen to exchange sports delegations. Belarus is experienced in rowing, gymnastics, and track and field and has major projects to train athletes in preparation for world championships.

However, the two countries are yet to fully tap their great potential in this field.

Belarus wishes to boost tourism cooperation with Vietnam. Our country has a rich diversity of wild animals and plants, many beautiful lakes, rivers, and forests, and a temperate climate for visitors to enjoy all four seasons.

The geological distance between Belarus and Vietnam is no obstacle to tourists as the two countries have many things in common – beautiful scenery and hospitality of local people.

VOV: What do you think of the Vietnamese community in Belarus?

PM Myasnikovich: The Vietnamese community is mostly living in major industrial centres such as the cities of Minsk, Mogilep, Gomen, Bobruisk, and Lida. Their full integration into Belarusian society reflects the close friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.

Belarus is also doing all it can to create favourable conditions for every citizen living in the country.

I am strongly confident that the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on temporary employment will help improve the capacity of related Vietnamese and Belarusian agencies.

VOV: Thank you very much!
