Ba Ria-Vung Tau hosts kite flying competition

(VOV) - A kite flying competition opened in the southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on January 1.

The event has attracted 100 artisans from 13 kite clubs all over the country, including Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Nam Dinh, Binh Duong, Dak Lak, Hanoi, and host Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

Organising board member Quan Hang Cao said the competition is expected to help tourists, particularly foreigners, experience another facet of the beauty of Vietnamese culture.

As the competition coincides with the New Year holiday, the number of tourists to the province has increased a double, and so has service revenue, he said.

On the evening of January 1, the competition will put on a kite flying performance in traditional music from each of the participating localities.

The kite flying competition will last through to January 2.
