Ha Tinh provincial authorities and representatives from the Lao province of Bolikhamxai held an official ceremony on July 26 for the planting of border marker 476 at the Cau Treo-Nam Phao border gate.

The granite marker, which measures 1.6m in height and one tonne in weight, is located on National Highway 8A, which is of strategic importance to both Vietnam and Laos.

Ha Tinh and Bolikhamxai provinces were instructed to build 24 border markers under a joint agreement between the Vietnamese and Lao government.

Construction of border marker 476 took five months.
