Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh said that the Party, State and people of Vietnam are resolved to constantly increase cooperation and friendship with Cuba.

The Vietnamese Party leader made the affirmation while receiving the Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee (CPCCC), Fernando Remirez in Hanoi on March 8.

Mr Fernando, who is also head of the CPCCC's Department for External Relations, told his host that the Cuban State, Party and people will do their best to lift the Vietnam-Cuba relationship to a new height.

He conveyed an invitation from President Fidel Castro and Vice President Raul Castro to the Vietnamese Party chief to visit Cuba soon.

For his part, Mr Manh praised the Cuban people’s achievements under the CPC leadership despite the unfair embargo and thanked the CPC and the Cuban people for their precious support for and solidarity with Vietnam.

Earlier, Mr Fernando and his staff were received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem. The delegation also held talks with a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), led by Nguyen Van Son, member of the CPV Central Committee and Director of the CPVCC's External Relations Commission. The two sides discussed concrete measures to further boost the ties between the two parties and countries.
