The Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFF CC) held the second consultation round in Hanoi on March 20 to make a temporary list of candidates at central-level organisations and agencies for the upcoming National Assembly election.

Speaking at the conference, VFF CC President Pham The Duyet underlined the need to select and elect competent and virtuous persons who represent people of social strata to the most powerful State body.

“It is the heavy task and responsibility of VFF which selects and organises consultation rounds for voters to elect candidates they trust to the National Assembly,” said Mr Duyet.

According to Mr Duyet, consultation is a necessary democratic step to introduce competent and virtuous candidates who show high resolve to fight corruption, bureaucracy and wastefulness as well as law violations and have close relations with people to win their trust.

The VFF CC Standing Board reported on the implementation of the second consultation round and a list of candidates introduced by central-level organisations and agencies. The list comprises 167 candidates, including 11 from Party organisations, 82 from NA committees, 2 from the State Presidential Office, 20 from the Government, 16 from armed forces, 2 from the judicial agency, 34 from VFF and its chapters, and 5 alternate candidates from VFF chapters.

The names of candidates will be made public at their residential quarters for voters to consider from March 22-29.

The official list of candidates will be made at the third consultation round to be held from April 10-15 by VFF CC.
