The Customs sector has contributed 25-30 percent of the state budget since 2000, according to figures announced at a celebration marking the sector’s 65th anniversary on September 10, which was attended by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Kien.

Since it was established in 1945, the sector has worked energetically to fulfill its tasks. In the renewal process, the Customs sector has reformed its administrative procedures and improved supervision, import-export tax collection, and management. It has also applied technical advances to expand import and export, investment, tourism, and global integration.

The sector has been awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order twice as well as other honors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Ngoc Tuc, Director General of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, said the sector will continue to implement administrative reforms and apply the latest technology to become more professional and keep pace with international developments.
