Hanoi seeking for uniform taxi colour

The Hanoi Department of Transport plans to use the uniform colour for local taxis by 2026.

The department has issued a draft regulation on taxi operation regulation, including the same colour for taxis.

One of five basic colours namely yellow, red, white, green and grey would be selected for taxis.

From 2019 to 2025, taxi firms in Hanoi will have to use the assigned colour for their new cars. From 2026, all taxi cabs in the city must have the uniform look.

Hanoi will be divided into two operating zones for taxis, with the first including all urban districts and the second covering rural areas. Taxi firms will be required to register their zone of operation with local authorities and only collect passengers in their own zone.

Under the draft regulation, taxi companies are required to open an account to pay fines in case of traffic violations.

The Hanoi Department of Transport reported that the city is now home to around 23,000 traditional taxis and more than 30,000 app-based taxis.
