FED Cup: Vietnam defeated by New Zealand

(VOV) - Vietnamese tennis players were outclassed by their New Zealand rivals in the Asia/Oceania Group II’s 2013 FED Cup qualifiers held in Kazakhstan on February 5. 

In the singles, Tran Thi Tam Hao completely overwhelmed Emily Fanning with a score of 6-3 in the first set.

The Vietnamese star continued to perform well in the first minutes of the second set, but Fanning came back in the last minutes to seal a 7-6 win.

In the decisive third set, she was quickly defeated 0-6 by her rival.

Meanwhile, Hao’s teammate Dai Trang lost 0-6 and 2-6 to Marina Erakovic in another match.

In the doubles, duo Emme Hayman-Abigail Guthrie (New Zealand) won a victory over Dai Trang/Tam Hao (Vietnam) 4-6, 6-3 and 6-4.

Vietnam’s next rivals will be Hong Kong (China) and Turkmenistan.
