Israel will continue to share its expertise with Vietnam in farming techniques, train agricultural engineers and develop diary cowherds, says Israeli Agriculture Minister Salom Shimhon.

Mr Salom made the pledge at a reception for visiting Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Ngoc Thuat in Tel Aviv on October 31.

The Israeli Minister praised Vietnam’s fast socio-economic development, considering it a model for other developing countries, particularly in poverty reduction.

Mr Thuat spoke highly of Israel’s assistance and cooperation for Vietnam and said that the two countries’ projects in agriculture and rural development have greatly benefited Vietnam’s agricultural sector. He said that Vietnam is interested in Israel’s farming techniques and wants to boost cooperation with Israel in this field.

The same day, the Vietnamese delegation attended the International Water Technologies and Environmental Control Exhibition and Conference (WATEC – 2007) in Israel.
