Work began on the VND4,500 billion Dak Mi 4 hydro-electric power project in Phuoc Son district, central Quang Nam province, on April 21.

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the 190-MW Dak My 4 plant, which is part of a plan for electricity infrastructure development along the Vu Gia and Thu Bon rivers, that was recently approved by the Prime Minister.

The new plant is expected to generate 1 billion kWh annually by the time it is officially put into operation in June 2011.

At the ceremony, Deputy PM Hung urged local authorities and construction units to keep track of the construction schedule while ensuring environmental protection and sustainability for local people.
