The Vietnamese team ranks sixth among participants, following host Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia in the competition.

The East Timor team withdrew from the tourney, and as with prior games, ten teams will be performing.

Shooting will kick off the games on November 27 as opposed to the usual football, due to a schedule dispute the marksmen have to participate in the Beijing Olympics 2008’s qualifiers shortly thereafter.

Suranaree University of Technology will accommodate SEA Games players and officials with 5,000 rooms available.
