Int’l seminar on promotion of sea and island cultural values
(VOV) - More than 120 domestic and foreign scholars and cultural managers discuss the conservation and promotion of sea and island cultural values at a seminar in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa province on January 5-6.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Dr Dang Thi Bich Lien, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasised that Vietnam has invested in the identification, study, conservation and promotion of sea and island cultural values in order to make full use of sea resources while addressing issues of climate change and sustainable development.

Domestic scholars introduced special features of the sea and island culture in different regions. Meanwhile foreign scholars shared experience in exploiting sea and island cultural values in the socio-economic development process, particularly the tourism development. Researchers from the Republic of Korea and Denmark presented their studies on the culture of Cat Ba Island, Ha Long Bay and Ly Son Island.
The seminar also evaluated sea and island cultural values which contribute to protecting Vietnam’s sovereignty and planning socio-economic development in the international integration process.
