Vietnam, Russia solidify anti-corruption cooperation

At the reception, Khai highlighted the flourishing Vietnam-Russia ties with outstanding achievements in multiple fields, noting that both nations will mark the 25th anniversary of the signing of a treaty on fundamental principles for the Vietnam-Russia friendship this year and celebrate 70 years of diplomatic ties in 2020.

After the Vietnamese Government Inspectorate and the Russian anti-corruption department inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on anti-corruption in 2014, the two sides have exchanged information and experience to deal with challenges in the fight against corruption, ensure the building of a transparent law-governed state and gradually keep corruption in check. 

They acknowledged the importance of stepping up bilateral collaboration in the time to come, especially in personnel training and combined anti-corruption efforts between local Vietnamese and Russian agencies, Khai told his guest.

Both sides consented to start negotiations for the amendment and upgrade of the MoU, Khai added, whilst voicing his hope that they will soon sign the revised pact.

In reply, Anikin said with confidence that the above-said cooperation activities will give a boost to cooperative ties between the two agencies and deepen the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in the future.

He said he hopes that the two agencies will further bilateral cooperation and exchange experience in the fight against corruption.

At the later talks, the two sides discussed issues of shared concern, including the revision of their 2014 MoU on cooperation.

The same day, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh gave a reception in Hanoi to Alexander Anikin, during which the Deputy PM said that Vietnam respects and appreciates the friendship and fruitful cooperation across a variety of fields with Russia.

He affirmed Vietnam's recognition of great importance to anti-corruption work and considers it one of the top priorities to build a professional, modern and transparent administration. 

Binh assured the Vietnamese Government's readiness to encourage and facilitate collaboration between the two nations' anti-corruption agencies.

He also hailed the outcomes of recent cooperation between the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam and the Anti-Corruption Department of the Russian President, especially in delegation exchange and information and experience sharing, while voicing his hope that the two agencies will enhance their affiliation in the time ahead. 

Anikin, in turn, said his nation always takes heed to to and seriously carry out anti-corruption work and showed his belief that the fine relationship between the two sides would lay a foundation for the two agencies to expand anti-corruption cooperation.
