U23-Vietnam turns the table in final match

The Vietnam U23 squad won a 2-1 victory over their Singaporean rivals in the final match of the HCM City international football tournament on the evening of September 24, securing third place at the tournament.

The Vietnamese footballers entered the match with confidence. However, the Singaporeans poured cold water on them when they opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a corner kick.

Coach Falko Goetz's Vietnamese team immediately sought to even the score in the first half. Receiving a pass from a teammate, Van Thang ran the ball by a Singaporean defender and sent it to Tuan Anh, who successfully headed it into Singapore's goal.

In the 57th minute, Van Thang struck the ball firmly into the net to fix the score at 2-1 in favour of Vietnam.

This win earned U23 Vietnam the third place in the tourney and a prize of US$5,000.
