PM Dung receives WB Country Director

(VOV) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met with World Bank (WB) Country Director Victoria Kwakwa on January 23 in Hanoi to compare notes on ways of expanding Vietnam’s cooperation with the international institution.

Dung passed on his hopes for the future flourishing of Vietnam’s cooperation with the World Bank (WB) and applauded its effective efforts and assistance in the recent past.

He promised Vietnam is intent on working harder towards macroeconomic stability, inflation containment, economic restructuring, higher growth rates, and more resilient social security.

He acknowledged the country needs both medium and long-term outlooks to create the necessary foundations for sustainable development, he said.

As well as using its internal strength, Vietnam hopes the international community will join the WB in extending greater degrees of support and cooperation.

Ms Kwakwa congratulated Vietnam on the 2013 achievements elevating its international standing.

She recommended Vietnam take more practical measures to stabilize the macro economy, remove obstacles to free-flowing production and trade, maintain reasonable economic growth rates, and protect its vulnerable citizens.

The WB is united behind Vietnam’s development goals, she said.

Dung and the WB Chief also discussed the best approach to realising the agreements reached with Vietnam’s partners during 2013’s Vietnam Development Partnership Forum.
