The Ministry of Telemetics plans to launch a US$107 million project this month on post and telecom service development, statistics modernisation and e-Government in major cities.

US$85 million of the project will be sourced from a World Bank loan, will be implemented in  Hanoi, the central coastal city of Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, and will run through 2010.

This year, the project will focus on assessing beneficiaries' demand for IT applications in order to outline a specific roadmap for executing the project in the remaining four years.

WB experts predict that the project can help Vietnam add a maximum of 110 million US$ annually to its GDP.
This project is part of the national strategy on IT and communications development through 2010 and its vision through 2020.
