Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a VND1,700 billion national programme to apply information technology to State agencies during the 2011-2015 period.
The programme is aimed at upgrading the sector’s infrastructure, laying the foundations for the development of E-Government; promoting the application of IT in state agencies and providing online information and public services.
According to the programme, 90 percent of customs offices must provide e-customs services; bidding plans and invitations, as well as list of contractors, must be made public online; 60 percent of the official documents exchanged between state agencies must be done by email; the Prime Minister’s online meetings must be well-connected to every relevant agency.
The programme reflects the Party and State policy to develop the IT sector, which is an important factor in the development of E-government.
