Vietnam wildfire torches 5ha of special-use forest
VOV.VN -Firefighters battled steep terrain and rugged conditions in the Ba Na – Nui Chua special use forest on April 20 to contain a wildfire that torched more than 5 hectares, according to fire officials.

At roughly 5 am, firefighters received the first calls reporting the blaze, fuelled by strong winds combined with drought parched vegetation, was spreading uncontrollably. |

Hundreds of fire-fighters, civil defence forces, and local people were involved in the fight. |

It was extremely difficult to get enough water to the area and smother the flames because the water source was so far from the area, firefighters reported. |

Phung Tan Viet, vice chairman of the Danang People's Committee, took charge of ensuring the safety of citizens in the surrounding forest areas. |

It wasn’t until 5:30 pm they were finally able to get the fire under control. |

There are no reports of deaths or injuries, said fire officials. |

The cause of the fire has not been determined. |
