Action Month for gender equality under review

VOV.VN -  The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs launched the first Action Month for gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence, which ended on December 15.

Under the theme “Preventing Violence against Women and Girls in Vietnam”, a string of activities were held nationwide involving thousands of people and included conferences, seminars, training, policy dialogues, talk shows, game shows, music festivals, and film screenings.

At a conference to review the event in Hanoi on December 15, delegates praised the diversity and quality of activities that were effectively carried out.

Shoko Ishikawa, Chief Representative of the UN agency on gender equality and empowerment of women (UN Women) in Vietnam highlighted the significance of the activity, expressing her hope that the UN in Vietnam will continue the partnership with the Vietnamese Government, civil social organisations and development partners in the work, thus bringing justice to victims of violence.

She also underlined the need to strengthen the legal framework and policies to empower women and girls and fully implement regulations on protecting women and children.
