The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) on September 29 decided to allocate VND2 billion in emergency aid to support victims of typhoon Hagupit in northern provinces.

Last month, the group collected donations worth VND3.6 billion for flood victims in northern Vietnam.

Since the start of this year, PetroVietnam has donated a total of VND85 billion from its charity fund and contributions by workers to build houses for the poor, fund free operations for visually impaired patients and support families who have been affected by natural disasters.

The death toll due to flooding triggered by Hagupit, the sixth typhoon to have struck the country so far this year, has risen to 41, according to the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control.
