National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong met with a delegation from Angola led by Domingos Manuel Njinga, chairman of the Committee for Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and the Overseas Angolan Community.

Chairman Trong said the visit would boost the friendship and co-operation between the two countries' Foreign Affairs Committees in particular and the two Parliaments in general. However, he said the two countries should further boost economic co-operation - which he said the Vietnamese National Assembly would do its best to achieve.

Chairman Trong also thanked the State and the people of Angola for the assistance they have given the Vietnamese community in the Central African Republic.

Mr Njinga said he hoped the two countries will put into practice their mutually agreed plans. He added that the Vietnamese residents in Angola have been welcomed and treated well.

Njinga handed Chairman Trong a letter from the chairman of the Angolan Parliament inviting the NA Chairman to visit Angola. Chairman Trong accepted the invitation and invited the chairman of the Angolan Parliament to visit Vietnam in the near future.
