Despite being defeated in the first round of the Yonex Open 2011 in Japan, Vietnam’s top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh still placed 7th in the Badminton World Federation rankings with 57,779 points.

Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei topped the rankings with 97,597 points, followed by Lin Dan and Chen Long from China.

This month Minh will take part in two Super Series tournaments, the Danish Open from October 18-23 and the French Open from October 25-30.

He is seeded no. 7 at the Danish Open after Lee Chong Wei, Lin Dan, Chen Long, Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade, Indonesia’s Taufik Hydayat and Chen Jin from China.
