Forty-five artists from Asia and Europe will attend the 2008 international music festival in Vietnam (Cracking Bamboo) from September 15-22, according to the Goethe Institute in Hanoi.

Two Vietnamese bands from Hanoi and one from HCM City will take part in the event and many young artists will join the festival to learn from their international colleagues.

 

Three out of the five nights will be free of charge at the Goethe Institute and the French Culture Centre, L’Espace in Hanoi and two nights of performances will take place in the Hanoi Opera House.

 

The artists will be divided into three groups and each group will perform for within 35-40 minutes along with solo performances. After that they will be divided into three new groups and each group will perform in HCM City and then Indonesia from September 22-27, Laos and Cambodia from September 22-24 and Phnompenh from September 25-28.

 

Cracking Bamboo is co-organized by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), the Vietnam National Music Institute, and the Goethe Institute.
