Speaking at a press conference in Hanoi on May 28, the committee’s secretary Lam Thanh Phuong, who is also president of the Vietnam Students’ Association, said that the campaign aims to create a good environment for young people to study, strengthen solidarity and contribute more effectively to the community, thus increasing the quality of the Youth Union’s activities.

During the three-month campaign, various events will take place, focusing on socio-economic development in a number of localities.

Targets set for the campaign:

    * 1,500 young volunteer groups to be established to provide assistance to more than 700,000 high school graduates going to sit tertiary entrance exams and introduce 250,000 cheap and safe boarding houses to them.

    * All provincial and municipal Youth Unions to organise activities to disseminate information about traffic safety and to help traffic wardens ensure traffic order.

    * Each local youth union is responsible for organising safe road crossings or safe ferries in areas that have a large number of rivers.

    * Youth unions and pupils unions to organise 100,000 summer gatherings for 3 million of children and give assistance to 100,000 underprivileged children./.
