Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem received the visiting President of the Nippon Foundation Yohei Sasakawa, in Hanoi, on September 19.

Sasakawa told his host that the purpose of his visit to Vietnam was to provide 30,000 artificial limbs to disabled people.

In recent years, the Nippon Foundation has been active in caring for disadvantaged people in Vietnam. Of note was the compiling of university programmes for visually-impaired and hearing-impaired people.

The foundation’s President said that it also plans to build close to 100 primary schools in isolated and remote areas of Vietnam.

Deputy PM Khiem thanked the Nippon Foundation for its assistance to Vietnam and expressed his belief that relations between the two countries will continue to be developed.
