The dead victim was 33-year-old Lo Van Sai, from Nam Coong village. The injured were identified as Lo Van Hieng, and Quang Van Vui at the age of 44 and 33, respectively.

These men were busy digging inside an old mine abandoned by a business when all hell broke loose.

This was the second gold mine collapse in Lai Chau in the past month.

A young woman, named Phung Long Xa, was killed on January 29 in Muong Te district after a big mass of land and stone fell on her when she joined her parents in seeking gold in a small mine.
