Yala consumers snap up Northeast rice
Consumers in the southernmost province of Yala are flocking to Yala Provincial Agricultural Extension Office to buy rice produced by northeastern farmers facing price slump.
Best-sellers are white rice and Jasmine rice which come in one-kilo and five-kilo packs. A kilo of rice sells for 40 baht. A 5-kilo pack of Jasmine rice costs 150 baht. Most customers have learnt the news about the difficulties of northeastern farmers and wish to help them.
