Seminar talks “Skills to Succeed” for youngsters

The “Skills to Succeed” project– an initiative launched by the Save the Children organisation - was featured at a seminar in the central city of Danang on April 18, with a view to better equipping youngsters aged 15-24 with necessary skills before entering the job market.

The organisation’s representatives from the US, UK, China, Denmark, Bangladesh, the Philippines and Vietnam shared experience in helping young people find jobs as well as measures to boost ties among policymakers, private sector and youngsters.
Erwin Nacuray, Deputy Country Director of the Save the Children in Vietnam, said the initiative aims to equip poor young people with necessary skills, relations and opportunities to find jobs or start their own businesses, thereby improving their income.

In Vietnam, the project brought support to over 2,000 young individuals in Danang and Can Tho in 2014-2015, over 70% of them landed jobs or had their own businesses.

Nearly 50,000 in Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam have benefited from the programme.
