Defence Minister Pham Van Tra left Hanoi on May 7 for an official visit to South Africa made at the invitation of his South African counterpart Mosioua Gera Patrick Lekota.
The Vietnamese military delegation will hold talks with South African senior army officers on personnel training cooperation, logistics and technical issues.
A Memorandum of Understanding on co-operation between the two countries' Defence Ministries will be signed on this occasion.
During their visit, the Vietnamese delegation will also call on a number of South African military bases and units.
