Japanese Film Week kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City at the BHD Star Cinema on October 8.

The week-long event, jointly presented by the Japanese Consulate General and the Japanese Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange, is aimed at strengthening friendship and cultural exchange between the two countries. It also helps Vietnamese people understand more about the land, people and culture of Japan.

Eight Japanese films to be shown in Vietnam include artistic and documentary films such as “Happy Flight”, “Rashomon”, “Tony Takitani”, “Kamikaze Girls”, “Sansho the Bailiff”, and several cartoon films like “5 centimetres per second”, “Yunagi”, “Yanagi City, Sakura Country” and “Memories of Tomorrow”.

The films will also be screened in the central coastal city of Nha Trang from October 22-24.
