He finished behind a Chinese weightlifter in the 59kg category in the snatch and total lift event but took the lead in the clean and jerk event.

Based on these achievements, the International Weightlifting Federation approved two berths for Vietnam at the first Youth Olympic Games, held in Singapore from August 14-26 next year and will draw 60 male and 40 female athletes.

The youth weightlifting team will gather early next year in preparation for the Olympic event and the 16^th Asian Games.
