The scientific organization “Rencontres du Vietnam” (RVN) has presented RVN-Vallet scholarships worth US$25,800 to 130 excellent students of natural sciences from eight provinces in the Central Highlands and southcentral Vietnam.

The presentation ceremony took place at Da Lat University in the Central Highland resort city of Da Lat on August 29.

At the event, Da Lat University presented certificates of merit to Prof. Odon Vallet from the world famous Sorbonne University, the original sponsor of the scholarship programme, and Vietnam’s Prof. Tran Thanh Van, President of Rencontres du Vietnam, to recognise their contributions to study promotion.

French-born Vallet, a doctor of law and a religious history professor at the Paris-based Sorbonne University, established the programme for excellent Vietnamese students in 2001, with the funding sourced from the professor’s personal inheritance.
