The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the World Bank (WB) held a conference to prepare for the international natural disaster risk management (WB5) project in Quang Tri’s provincial city of Dong Ha on September 30.

It was attended by over 80 representatives from 10 regional cities and provinces including Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Binh Dinh and Ninh Thuan.

Following the community-based natural disaster risk management project which was implemented in the central region from 2005-2010, the US$150 million WB5 project will be carried out in five years from 2012-2016 with loans from the WB, aiming to strengthen the capacity to mitigate and deal with natural disasters in Vietnam.
