The Urban and Industrial Zone Development Investment Corporation (IDICO) has begun the construction of the Dak Mi 4 hydro-electric power plant in Phuoc Son district, central Quang Nam province.

The VND4,547-billion project, which has a design capacity of 190 MW, is expected to produce 768.4 million kWh annually. The plant is scheduled for completion and connection to the national grid by June 2011.

IDICO General Director Bui Pham Khanh announced that the corporation already put into operation the Srok hydro-electric power plant with a design capacity of 51 kW.

The corporation is running a joint venture on the Xekaman 3 hydro-electric power project in Laos and setting up an international power development joint stock company for similar projects in the ASEAN region.
