Young woman killed as trailer truck slams into e-biker

VOV.VN - A young woman was killed in an accident on Thang Long Boulevard in Hanoi this afternoon (June 16) by a trailer truck that left her electronic power-assisted bicycle crushed, reported Zing Online Newspaper.

The e-biker, a 23-year-old woman from Thanh Hoa Province was pronounced dead on the spot.

Identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The tragedy is not the first road accident that has claimed the lives of e-bike users this year in Vietnam, said police officials.

The number of fatalities and injuries involving power-assisted bicycles on the road continues to rise in Hanoi as traffic congestion spirals out of control due to the rising number of vehicles on the roadways.

An investigation into the accident is continuing, police said, noting that no decision has been made yet whether charges will be filed against the driver of the trailer truck.
