A delegation of the Vietnam War Veterans Association (VWVA) began their four-day working visit to Cambodia on June 19 at the invitation of Cambodian Minister of Social Affairs, War Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation Ith Sam Heng.

At a working session the same day, Major General Dang Quan Thuy, head of the Vietnamese delegation, and Minister Ith Sam Heng agreed to accelerate exchanges and coordination between the two countries’ war veterans associations with a view to boosting the Vietnam-Cambodia traditional ties.

Minister Ith Sam Heng stated that the Cambodian people would never forget the Vietnamese people’s valuable assistance, particularly the voluntary soldiers’ help during their past struggle to liberate the Cambodian people from the genocidal regime and their current national development.

The minister said the VWVA's activities and its successes were good experiences for the Cambodian War Veterans Association (CWVA) to improve the Cambodian war veterans and their families' living conditions.

The Vietnamese delegation was scheduled to pay courtesy visits to Prime Minister Hun Sen, Deputy PM and Defence Minister Tea Banh, and Deputy PM and Interior Minister Sar Kheng. They will also attend the first Congress of the CWVA and visit its establishments.
