Senior officials of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of Russian Federation (KPRF) re-upped the long-time relations between the two parties and the two countries as a whole at a meeting in Moscow on November 23.

The President of the KPRF Central Committee, Ghennady Ziuganov, told Truong Tan Sang, Poliburo member and Permanent Secretary of the CPV Central Committee (CPVCC), that the strategic partnership and traditional friendship between the two countries and parties would certainly continue to develop.

Truong Tan Sang shared the view, emphasising that relations between the two communist parties have been constantly developing through regular exchanges of high-level delegations. He cited the visits earlier this year by Nguyen Van Chi, Politburo member and Director of the Inspection Commission of the CPVCC, and To Huy Rua, Politburo member, Secretary, and Director of the Information and Education Commission of the CPVCC.

Both sides shared their satisfaction with the recent growth of their respective parties.

The KPRF won between 27 and 30 percent of the votes in a recent election to local administrative posts. The CPV has been successful in leading the nation to overcome the negative impact of the global economic downturn, maintain political stability and social security, and improve the living conditions of the people.

The two parties are also gearing for major celebrations. The KPRF is ready for the birthday of its founding leader, V. I. Lenin, next April and the victory of the Great Patriotic War next May. The CPV, also, is busy with preparations for its 11th national Congress in early 2011.
