Vietnam’s Cat Tien National Park is expected to be recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as a World Natural Heritage Site in September 2006, according to the Heritage Department under the Ministry of Culture and Information.
International experts said the 150,000-ha park is located in Dong Nai, close to Binh Phuoc and Lam Dong provinces. It has more than 1,610 plant species and 1,490 species of animals, including many precious and rare animals, which are in danger of extinction in many parts of the world such as one-horn rhinos and white-collar cranes.
