World Cup 2006 Organising Board chairman Franz Beckenbauer has expressed his wish to visit Vietnam as soon as he has a chance. “Vietnam is a beautiful and attractive country,” he said. “If I have a chance in the future, I will travel to Vietnam.”
The legendary German football player and manager made the statement in Frankfurt, Germany on January 6 during talks with a delegation from Vietnam Digital Television (VTC), which is in Germany for a survey tour to prepare for its World Cup boradcasts.
While in Germany, the VTC delegation will work with some leaders of the German Football Federation (DFB) and record images of some German cities and stadiums to prepare for the World Cup 2006, which will be kicked off in Germany this June.
As planned, VTC will send a group of reporters and technicians to Germany during the World Cup to provide the latest information about the world’s biggest football event.
