Another two cases of A/H1N1 have been discovered in Vietnam, raising the total number of cases to 15, said Doctor Nguyen Huy Nga, head of the Health Ministry’s Department of Preventive Medicine on June 8.

The latest two cases, who are in isolation at the Nhi Dong 1 Hospital, had travelled abroad the same flight, AU 869. Out of the 15 cases, six of them had been on flight UA 869, which flew from the US to Vietnam.

The Ho Chi Minh City Health Department has managed to contact 185 of the 293 passengers who were on the same flight as the six victims to monitor their health.

According to the department, the increasing number of passengers who are in isolation for health monitoring has caused a risk of overloading at several of the city’s hospitals.

Apart from the city-based Tropical Diseases Hospital, Nhi Dong 1 and Nhi Dong 2 Hospitals, the Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital has been selected for the isolation and treatment of the flu.

Later the same day, the city’s Health Department sent warnings to hotels, airports and city hot spots where large crowds gather to help people understand the situation and get support if they show any flu symptoms.

Doctor Nguyen Van Chau, Director of the department said that the Health Ministry provides free treatment for anyone in isolation.

As of the afternoon of June 8, there had been 25,288 cases of A/H1N1 flu recorded across 73 countries and territories, 139 of them have died.
