Belgium will build long-term cooperative projects with Vietnam in the field of science and technology, said Belgian officials.

The affirmation was made by leaders of Flamand region and Bodgan Van Doninck, the Director of the International Scientific Coordination Agency under the Belgian Ministry of Economy, Energy, Trade and Federal Scientific Policy, while meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Thang.

Mr Thang was leading a delegation from the Ministry of Science and Technology on a four-day visit to Belgium, starting on June 19.

During their meetings, the Belgian officials spoke highly of Vietnam’s effective cooperation in bilateral cooperation projects.

The delegation called at renowned Gand University, which has trained many Vietnamese masters of science and worked with the Vietnamese Scientific Institute, the Hanoi-based University of Technology and Can Tho University to successfully implement many projects.

The delegation also paid a visit to the Bio-technology Research Centre and the Information Technology and Telecommunications Centre, whose leaders showed  willingness to exchange experts, train human resources and build long-term cooperative programmes with Vietnam in these fields.
