Vietnam and the Islamic Republic of Iran have agreed to expand their cooperation in trade, investment, culture, sports and tourism.

The agreement was reached during the fifth meeting of the Vietnam-Iran Inter-Governmental Committee for Economic and Trade Cooperation, held Tehran on December 30.

The Vietnamese delegation to the meeting was led by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, while the Iranian delegation was led by Commerce Minister Masoud Mirkazemi.

The two ministers reviewed the implementation of agreements reached during the previous meeting in Hanoi in 2005, and said that both countries have developed their friendship and cooperation dynamically and efficiently.

Later, the Vietnamese Minister was received by Iran’s First Vice President Parviz Davoudi who affirmed Iran’s willingness to broaden its multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.

Minister Phat told his host that the fifth meeting will be a new step toward expanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
