The Vu Lan Festival falls on the 15^th day of the 7^th lunar month, and is a time for children to express their love for their parents.

The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Do Xuan Dong, Chairman of the Vietnamese Residents’ Association in the Czech Republic Hoang Dinh Thang, Deputy Chairman of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha's Executive Board Most Venerable Thich Bao Nghiem, and hundreds of Buddhist followers from the Czech Republic, Greece, Germany, Poland and Hungary.

Most Venerable Thich Bao Nghiem preached the significance of the Vu Lan Festival which, he said, presents traditional Vietnamese culture.

Currently, about 60,000 Vietnamese people are living in the Czech Republic, including nearly 4,000 in Cheb city, most of whom are Buddhist followers.
