A Taiwanese company has been licensed to build a textile plant in the Dai An industrial zone in the northern province of Hai Duong.

The PHI Ltd., Co, a branch of Taiwan-based Kingwhale corporation, will invest US$70 million in building the plant to produce high-quality clothes for export. Its products cater for potential markets like Australia, Sweden and Taiwan.

When starting operation in December, 2007, the 30 ha-factory will generate jobs for more than 3,200 local workers.

This is the 18th foreign-invested project licensed by the provincial authorities to operate in the Dai An industrial park so far, bringing the total foreign direct investment in the zone to more than US$300 million.
