Vietnamese photographer Duong Quoc Dinh has been awarded the highest prize in the seventh Giuliano Carrara international photo contest in Italy.
With his four black-and-white photos “Loi cua gio” (words of wind), “Thanh binh 1” (Peace 1), “Thanh binh 2” (Peace 2), “Lac quan” (Optimism), the photographer has become the first foreign artist to win such honour since the competition was first held in 1996.
Beating more than 4000 photos submitted by artists from 33 countries, Dinh won a gold medal from the International Federation for Photographic Arts (FIAP). In addition, he gained second prize and a silver medal from FIAP for a colour photo and was awarded a certificate of merit in the digital photo category.
The seventh Giuliano Carrara international photographic competition also recognised the achievements of two other Vietnamese photographers Tran Phong and Duong Thanh Khoi.
