The Republic of Korea (RoK) wishes to further develop its reliable partnership with Vietnam into a strategic partnership, with a focus on cooperative relations between the two parliaments.

The statement was made by the RoK Ambassador to Vietnam, Im Hong-Jae, at a meeting with the National Assembly Vice Chairwoman, Tong Thi Phong, in Hanoi on July 6.

Ms Phong spoke highly of the role played by Hong-Jae over the past two years, saying that the ambassador has contributed greatly to the development of the bilateral relationship in general and legislative ties in particular.

Progress in Vietnam-RoK relations has created a momentum for cooperation in economics, culture, education, security and national defence, the legislator said.

The two legislatures should work to create a legal framework and a high consensus for further expanding the Vietnam-RoK relationship in the years to come, she added.

The lawmaker stressed that the Vietnamese National Assembly is committed to implementing the agreements it has signed with the RoK counterpart.
