Representatives of more than 30 leading Belgian enterprises have shown their special interest in Vietnam’s investment environment at a recent conference on "Boosting Vietnam-Belgium Co-operation and Investment Opportunities in Vietnam" held in Brussels.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Cao Viet Sinh introduced Belgian businesses to Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements and its policies aimed at encouraging and attracting foreign investment.

Belgian businesses raised questions concerning Vietnam’s incentive policies for foreign investors operating in the country. Small- and medium-sized Belgian businesses showed their special interest in issues relating to stock and investment forms in Vietnam.

According to Mr Sinh, Belgium has invested 75 million euros in 25 projects in Vietnam, ranking 29th among foreign investors in the country. These projects are concentrated in the industrial and service sectors. However, he said, the economic scale between Vietnam and Belgium is still modest compared to their potential. He said he hopes that small- and medium-sized businesses will accelerate their investment in Vietnam.
