The export value of Vietnam's Special Aquatic Products Joint Stock Company (SEASPIMEX) has reached US$5 million so far this year, a 60 percent increase from last year’s figure, said the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The company has invested US$4.5 million to build a processing factory with the aim of boosting export of its high-value products. Once operational in April 2007, the factory will help raise the company's processing capacity to 12,000 tonnes, up from the current level of 4,000 tonnes.

SEASPIMEX’s development strategy in 2006 says that the company will expand its processing lines, and seek new markets, increasing marketing and promotion activities particularly in Europe, the United States, Japan and the Republic of Korea. The company has successfully expanded the export market for its canned fish products to the Middle East.
