The Czech Republic-Vietnam cooperative relations should be promoted not only between the governments and parliaments but also between provinces, districts and businesses of the two countries, said a Czech law maker.

The Deputy Chairman of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, Vojtech Filip, made the remark at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem in Hanoi on April 5

The Czech legislator, in company with business representatives, stressed that the visit aimed to discuss with Vietnamese partners the implementation of several projects, including the opening of direct flights between Hanoi and Prague.

Representatives of the Czech Airlines had a working session with the Vietnam Airlines Corporation and are also scheduled to work with the Ministry of Transport on the project, he said.

The delegation also worked with the State Bank of Vietnam on the possibility of opening Czech-invested banks in Vietnam, Filip said, adding that the Czech Republic plans to invest in a 500 MW power plant in the country.

Deputy PM Khiem affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always supports cooperation projects between the two countries.

He hailed the delegation’s visit to northern mountainous Dien Bien province as a positive step towards cooperation at the grassroots levels. The Deputy PM expressed his hope that the Czech Republic will continue to train experts particularly specialists in bilateral cooperation projects for Vietnam.
