The Ministry of Industry reported that export turnover of the garment and textile sector in September hit US$500 million, raising its total export turnover in the past nine months to US$4.46 billion, up 27.8 percent from a year earlier.

The ministry also noted that the US remained Vietnam’s biggest import market despite increased exports to the EU market over the past months. It attributed to the development of the garments and textile sector, Vietnamese businesses’ efforts to seek non-quota markets.

If there is no big change, the garments and textile sector is expected to fulfil this year’s export targets of US$5.8 billion, the ministry said.
